I have wanted to read this story for awhile.I love anything about history, even if it's fictional. The story is well written. I believe it takes place somewhere around the WW1. There isn't an exact timeline, but they describe briefly about some unrest in their Country of Germany. It's really a story about priviledge, and your standing. If you are an aristocrat, you only marry up, and he has to be of your class. You would never marry a commoner.
The story revolves around a young Baroness, who has been away at boarding school for about ten years, comes home to her famiy castle after a problem with her tuition money. She is on a stipend, and her father's will only pays for her education. Her Aunt has let the place run down, and all the staff has been let go.
The Baroness has to be creative in finding money to fix her beloved castle. She goes to the bank to meet her family friend, but soon finds out he has passed away and his son the Count is in charge. He remembers her from being a child, and his brother used to play games with her. The Baroness is a rebel, and says she will only marry a commoner.
She reconnects with her Aunt along the way. She is the person who took care of her as a child. You can guess what happens next. Her and the Count fall in love. She turns her castle into a business to survive, And her Aunt who's been a spinster all her life, finds love as well with a widowed doctor. There are some plot twists and turns, but I don't want to spoil the rest of the story.
I would like to see another book that continues the story of her castle, and the Baroness and Count after they get married. I gave this book 5-stars, it left me wanting to read more. I was given this product for free or at a reduced price, for my honest and truthful unbiased review. All opinions are my own. I am a consumer. I personally buy and use every product I review.
